San Pedro offers year around windsurfing opportunities with constant ocean breezes. Its unique juxtaposition of cliffs, hills and harbor combine to create an area of robust breezes. This area, known as "Hurricane Gulch" is a favorite with windsurfers. San Pedro has areas within the breakwater that are perfect for the novice and also has open water areas outside the breakwater that challenge the expert.

Cabrillo Beach is world famous for it's quality windsurfing opportunities. It is open from 7:00 AM to Sunset and has trailer parking, boat wash facilities and restrooms. The outer beach is run by the County of Los Angeles Department of Recreation and Parks. The inner beach is run by the City of Los Angeles Department of Recreation and Parks.
