San Pedro has some of the finest sport fishing in the entire world. 22nd Street Landing and L A Harbor Sportfishing are both homeports to many charter and open party sport fishing boats that are the finest on the Pacific Coast. Trips vary in length from 1/2 day to multiday trips of five or more days, fitting anyone's needs and schedule. Tackle and equipment are available for rental. Several fishing tackle shops are located in San Pedro.

There is a boat ramp at Cabrillo Beach on Stephen White Drive where you can launch your own boat. It is open from 7:00 AM to Sunset and has trailer parking, boat wash facilities and restrooms. For the fisherman not wishing to take a fishing trip in a boat, San Pedro offers fishing from the Cabrillo Beach Pier, the shoreline, and the breakwater.
