San Pedro is ideal for sailing. The major port on the Pacific Coast, San Pedro has everything the sailing enthusiast may want or need. Marinas, fuel docks, marine equipment and supply stores, chanderlies, dry docks, and repair facilities are all available and are capable of handling any size vessel. Boats and yachts are available for charter.
San Pedro is blessed with mild weather and constant trade winds that allow sailing the year around. With its ideal location, proximity to all of the Channel Islands, large safe harbor and complete array of facilities and services, San Pedro is the ideal port to start any voyage. It is the essential port of call for anyone cruising the Eastern Pacific or West Coast.
There is a paved boat launch ramp at Cabrillo Beach which has recently (May 2015) been redredged to be able to accommodate larger boats. If your boat has a high draft consider using the boat launch at High Tide. Click here for the NOAA Cabrillo Beach Tide Chart for the date you're interested. You can use this ramp to launch your own boat. The boat lauch ramp is best reached from Shoshonean Road off Via Cabrillo Marina. It is open from 5:30 AM to 10:30 PM and has trailer parking, boat wash facilities and restrooms. Parking is $2.00/hr for vehicle and boat trailer to a maximum of $15.00 per day. There is no extra charge for the boat launch ramp. Vehicles with a boat trailer attached may be left over night or for several days at $15.00 per day. Vehicles without a boat trailer attach cannot be left over night and may be towed if left past 10 PM. Payment is made in cash or credit card at the kiosk.
