I FEST™ Facts and Information

San Pedro Old Town, home of the Sportswalk of Fame, will play host to professional sports team interactive areas during the 1998 I FEST™, held in conjunction with the Europa Festival.

The Europa Festival is presented by the City of Los Angeles, Cultural Affairs Department, in cooperation with the office of Councilman Rudy Svorinich, Jr., San Pedro Old Town Alliance, San Pedro Art Association, Grand Vision Foundation, San Pedro Waterfront Development Corporation, San Pedro Peninsula Chamber of Commerce and Worldport L.A.

The event is produced by San Pedro based Avenue I, Inc., an internationally recognized brand and event development company

A kick-off party will be held on Saturday night, May 16 at the Sheraton Los Angeles Harbor, beginning at 9:00. Incidently, the headline band at the party is named Europa.

The free festival also features over 20 bands on three stages, Youth (in the Sea. Children. Play.™ Interactive Village, also featuring Warner Kids), Europa ( adjacent to the Europa Pub and Grub - food and drink from around Europe,) and Jazz & Blues (adjacent to the Sheraton Wine Garden and Art by the Sea.).

The Anaheim Angels Grand Slam Van, a 48 Foot Semi-truck, features free Press Box, Locker Room, Memorabilia Display, Virtual Tour/Interactive Batting and Pitching Cage and Base Running Skills areas.

The Los Angeles Sparks WNBA Team area will feature 3 on 3 basketball competition with the players and a full interactive display. A full court will be set-up on Mesa and Seventh Streets.

The Los Angeles Galaxy Major League Soccer Team area, will feature the Snickers™ Kick Center, where I FEST™ Guests may test their soccer skills for free.

Free pro team merchandise, along with I DUNK® AND I KICK™ items will be given away throughout the day.

San Pedro Art Association will stage their annual Art by the Sea, featuring the finest in arts and crafts.

AVENUE I™ San Pedro "Drive-In" Car Show, and European Auto Exposition, where festival guests may vote for their favorites. The event benefits the Harry Bridges Foundation.

On Tuesday, May 19, the Whale and Ale will host a party benefiting The Boys and Girls Club of San Pedro, donating part of the evening's proceeds

The I RIDE™ San Pedro Grand Prix, on Monday, May 25 (Memorial Day) will feature top professional and Amateur cyclists, on what is recognized as "the most challenging criterium course in Southern California." Divisions also include Women's, Masters, Youth and Police, in this high profile race in Downtown San Pedro.

The "Ride to the Tide™", a 10 mile fun ride will be held in the morning of the San Pedro Grand Prix, visiting historic locations in and around San Pedro, the Los Angeles Harbor and the Peninsula. Participants may pick-up their entry forms by visiting area bike stores or calling 310.831.99SP
