The Crowley Tug Warrior, accompanied by 3 other tug boats, will tow the USS Iowa (BB-61) from the Port of Richmond, California, across the Bay and under the Golden Gate Bridge. Once at sea, the Warrior will begin the long solo tow down the coast bringing the USS Iowa (BB-61) to her new and permanent home; The Port of Los Angeles, Berth 87 in San Pedro, California. There is still time to purchase a plank and become a supporter of USS Iowa (BB-61). The Los Angeles Times has a great page showing how the USS Iowa will be rigged for the tow. The Port of Los Angeles Waterfront Red Car Line will be out of service from May 14 - June 28, 2012. The Pacific Electric Big Red Cars are in San Pedro! The Red Car hours of operation are from Noon to 9:30 p.m., Friday through Sunday. Red Cars may also run on select Mondays, Tuesdays, Wednesdays and Thursdays when cruise ships are in Port.
